Hello there . . .

. . . and welcome to my website. I’m Richard Warrick, smallholder by day, aspiring writer by night, and partaker of small-scale adventures when my anxiety allows.

RESTLESS LANES

AN ANXIOUS CYCLE FROM ONE END OF BRITAIN TO THE OTHER

From nervous beginnings, Restless Lanes follows my emotional and physical journey over two weeks from Land’s End to John o’ Groats. From terrifying dual carriageway encounters, battering storms, and crippling loneliness, my story also captures moments of sheer joy, breathtaking landscapes, and forgotten histories.

Restless Lanes is my first book and will be available to buy in 2026.

Short Stories & Articles

I also publish articles and short stories on Medium. These cover a range of subjects, but mostly centre on the environment and the (im)practicalities of running a smallholding. So expect anything from the possibilities of localised economies to the viability of installing a ram pump . . .
